A man was robbed of his mobile phone and left with a whiplash-type injury after being struck from behind.
Police investigating the robbery say they were called to Napier Road, in Northfleet early yesterday morning after a man was found with a head injury.
The incident happened just before 8.30am and officers remained at the scene conducting inquires as it was not clear at first, how he became injured.
However, detectives investigating the incident say they are now appealing for witnesses as the man was robbed and struck on the back of the head.
The victim, 39, was treated at the scene before being transported to a London hospital.
He is believed to have suffered a whiplash-type injury after being struck from behind but his condition is not believed to be serious.
He told police his mobile phone was stolen during the incident.
Steven Mclaren, who lives in nearby Thanet House, had watched events unfold yesterday morning.
He said: "The helicopter landed on a bit of waste ground near us," he said. "It woke me up at about 8.30am.
"The car park was all taped off.
"They've picked up clothing and put it in forensic bags - it was against a brick wall."
