A 28-year-old has appeared in court this morning charged with murder after the body of a man was found stabbed to death in his home.
Police and ambulance crews were called to an address in Hamerton Road, Northfleet, at 2.46am on Tuesday and declared James Webb dead at the scene.
At 4.25pm on the same day, detectives arrested Harry Harris, of Stanway Close, Chigwell, Essex, on suspicion of murder.
They say the victim, who was 44, and suspect were known to each other.
Yesterday residents reacted with shock at the news, describing the victim as a 'normal guy' who kept to himself.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorised a charge of murder against Mr Harris earlier today and he appeared via video-link at Medway Magistrates' Court.
He is also charged with possession of a knife and was remanded in custody.
The case was sent to Maidstone Crown Court and Harris, who did not enter a plea, is due to appear there on Monday.
