A 23-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of "gentle giant" Danny Wallis.
Homeless Travis Smith is accused of killing 29-year-old Mr Wallis who was found dead at his home in Clarence Row, Gravesend, on Sunday evening.
Smith was arrested after officers were called to a flat in Gravesham Court on Sunday, May 31.
He appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court this morning wearing a baggy grey jumper and jogging bottoms.
He spoke only to confirm his name during the two-minute hearing, when magistrates ruled the case was too serious to be heard there.
Smith was remanded in custody until Friday, when he will appear at Maidstone Crown Court.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination has been unable to establish how Mr Wallis died, and further tests are due to be carried out.
A man and a woman also arrested on Sunday in connection with the death have been released without charge.
Yesterday, Mr Wallis's family paid tribute to a "one in a million gentle giant with a heart of gold".
