A man has been charged with arson following a fire at an address in Gravesend on New Year’s Eve.

Patrick Maguire, 52, of Winchester Crescent, is alleged to have set fire to the front door of a property in the Hampton Crescent area.

He was arrested the following day and was charged with threatening to damage or destroy property and possessing a blade.

He was due to appear at Medway Magistrates Court today.
