A father who died after suffering serious head injuries at Victoria train station was on his way back from a football match, it is believed.
Crystal Palace fan Richard Powell, 39, from Higham, had seen his team play a pre-season friendly match against Fulham before getting into an argument at the London station on August 1.
He died from his injuries three days later at St Thomas’ Hospital, London.
Mr Powell was a plasterer and it is believed he gave his services, free of charge, to the BBC programme DIY SOS, when it came to the area.
Officers from British Transport Police (BTP)A are now asking for witnesses to come forward.
Det Supt, Gary Richardson said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed an altercation involving three men on the main concourse of Victoria mainline station at approximately 7.35pm on Saturday, 1 August.
“Any information, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, could prove crucial to the investigation.”
A 21-year-old man from south London, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm but was released on bail, pending further inquiries.
BTP officers will be at Victoria station today (Saturday) giving out information leaflets and appealing for help with their inquiries.
They will also be using Bluetooth technology to alert passengers to the appeal via their handheld devices.
