A man was punched to the ground before being stamped on the head by a gang of three who then fled.
Witnesses are being sought - including a good Samaritan who stopped the attack - after what has been described as a violent and unprovoked assault in a town centre.
The victim was jumped on at around 6pm on August 23 in Windmill Street, Gravesend.
It is alleged a woman and two men approached him before punching him several times.
After being knocked to the ground, they then stamped on his head.
The trio, all believed to be white, then ran away.
The woman had blonde hair and was wearing a blue turquoise dress.
One of the men is described as having short dark hair, wearing dark shorts, a dark t-shirt and white trainers, carrying a dark backpack.
The other also had short dark hair and was wearing a dark blue t-shirt which faded into light blue. He was wearing black trousers and black and white trainers.
Investigating officer PC Vicki Hartland said: “This was a violent unprovoked incident which happened in a busy location.
“We are keen to find the offenders but also wish to talk to witnesses who assisted the victim.
“In particular, I’d like to talk to one witness who intervened and prevented any further assault.
“He is a black man, of slim build with short hair and he was wearing sunglasses.
“He was wearing an orange t-shirt, black jogging bottoms and slider-style shoes.”
