Man shot in town centre

A MAN is in hospital today after being shot outside business premises in Gravesend town centre. The victim received serious wounds to his stomach.

The shooting happened outside a hairdresser's shop in Parrock Street, close to the town's clock tower, at about 9pm last night. The man, aged 50, was taken to Dartford's Darent Valley Hospital.

The injuries, believed to have been caused by airweapon pellets, are not life-threatening. He is likely to be released from hospital sometime today.

The victim has been interviewed by detectives but he is apparently refusing to co-operate with their enquiries. He said he did not see who fired the weapon.
