SHOPPERS watched in horror as a man plummeted more than 20 feet from the second floor at the Bluewater shopping complex near Dartford.

Witnesses heard the man's wife scream as crowds gathered but amazingly he survived the fall on to the marble ground.

One shop worker described her astonishment at seeing the man talking just minutes after the incident which occurred just outside Crussh juice bar on Boxing Day.

Shirley Whitney, 43, manager of Crussh, said: "It was all so shocking. We had noticed a couple having a real go at each other just outside our shop. Some people say he just snapped and jumped."

A police spokeswoman later confirmed the man was in a stable condition in Dartford's Darent Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He comes from Wandsworth. He was expected to be released from hospital sometime this week.
