The man, who suffered multiple wounds, was conscious - although his injuries were said to be "potentially serious" by a South East Coast Ambulance spokesman.
He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to King's College Hospital in London.
A police spokeswoman said his injuries were consistent with knife wounds and that officers remained at the scene to gather evidence.
The condition and age of the man is currently not known.
