Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish felt his side were always in control during their 2-1 derby victory against Dartford on Tuesday.

Fleet played against 10 men for much of the game and nine in the later stages but kept their fans on the edge of their seats by only ever holding a one-goal advantage in the Blue Square Bet South clash at Stonebridge Road.

Daish (pictured) said: "You’re facing 10 players but they are going to work even harder and maybe not be as adventurous, so that is where you need a bit of quality.

"Dartford were spirited and hung in there. We had chances to extend the lead but didn’t take them.

"It doesn’t matter how many extra players you have got toward the end because if you only have that one goal, then you can get a couple of free-kicks, or a corner, against you and it only needs one player to finish one of them."

The Fleet boss believed that Dartford defender Joe Bruce’s dismissal on the half-hour mark was the correct decision.

Daish said: "It was a great little ball through from Michael West to set Calum Willock on his way. He has pace and showed the centre-half a clean pair of heels and I think it was a fair decision."
