A milkman was chased away from a house in the middle of the night after being mistaken for a burglar.
Police were called to a "burglary in process" in the Old London Road area of Wrotham at around 2.50am yesterday.
Officers were told that a van was spotted and a person was at the front door of the home, before they were chased away by the 'victim'.
Police made their way to the incident but en route received a call to say it was the milkman doing his rounds and that no offence had taken place.
A tweet from Kent Police's Roads Policing Unit explained: "Call last night to a burglary in process.
"Information was there had been a van and persons at a front door being chased by the alleged victim.
"On our way disco lights blaring. Call back.
"It’s the milkman which is why they were at the door..."
The milkman in question, known as Zach, works for County Dairies.
A spokesman for the company explained what happened: "I have spoken to Zach the milkman who said he was delivering to Wrotham the other night when one of the neighbours though he was up to no good.
"The neighbour shouted at him and started to run at the milkman. Zach quickly got in his float and left."
A police spokesman added: "Kent Police received a report of a suspected burglary in progress at the Old London Road area of Wrotham at around 2.50am on Thursday, May 14.
"While on the phone to the informant, they confirmed no offences had taken place."
