A mother has accused her daughter’s school of underplaying a playground accident and failing to call so she could collect her.
Sherene Reid’s partner had received a text from Whitehill Primary School in Gravesend saying Samiat, seven, had “bumped her lip” but was fine.
But she said she was horrified on seeing her broken tooth and mouth damage when she went to collect her later.
Ms Reid, of All Saints Road, Northfleet, said: "We saw the text shortly before we left to pick her up and I thought she may have bitten her lip or something.
"I saw my daughter coming through the crowd with her lip hanging down and blood was at the bottom of her mouth.
"They didn’t call me to say she had fallen over and I’ve heard two stories from the school saying they did and didn’t know her teeth were broken.
"If it was so serious that she lost a tooth then why didn’t they ring me? I would have been at the school straight away.
"A teacher even said to me I had every right to be upset because she would be the same. I’m really angry and I think it’s so unfair."
Ms Reid tried to contact an emergency dentist without success. She claimed that her daughter could have received treatment earlier if she had been informed of the incident.
The school has confirmed the complaint is under investigation.
