Drone images have revealed the progress being made on a hospice’s new multi-million-pound wellbeing wing.
The latest pictures of the ellenor hospice, in Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, show the completion of the building’s foundations and retaining wall.
Construction has now started on the steel frame which will support the two-storey building and connect it to the existing facilities.
The main frame is almost complete meaning the project can enter the next phase of work which includes creating the ground and first floor.
Chief executive of ellenor, Michelle Kabia said: “We are thrilled to see the new Wellbeing Centre starting to take shape, marking a significant step forward in ellenor’s commitment to care.
“This vision could not be realised without the unwavering and generous support of our community and the outstanding Barnes Construction team.
“Our goal is to extend our reach and provide support to more families in need. Thanks to this space, we will be able to enhance vital services and better meet the growing need for hospice care.”
Work began on the new centre last year with a breaking-the-ground ceremony in May.
Once complete, it will feature new counselling rooms, upgraded play therapy rooms for children, and a spacious multipurpose area for therapeutic activities.
It will also serve as an educational hub for health and social care professionals offering specialised training in palliative and end-of-life care.
The new building will help the charity to continue to provide care and support for patients, families, staff and volunteers.
