Gravesend prankster plays 'sex noises' during Match of the Day

Prolific prankster Dan Jarvis has claimed responsibility for a live TV stunt which saw 'sex noises' played as Match of the Day host Gary Lineker presented.

The BBC star was left red faced and bemused last night as he fronted coverage of Wolves' FA Cup third-round replay with Liverpool.

As the former England captain spoke, the sound of a woman moaning in pleasure started playing in the background.

It soon emerged a mobile phone had been taped to the back of a chair in the studio allowing Gravesend resident Jarvis to play the risqué clip.

The BBC apologised for the incident and said it was carrying out an investigation into how the prankster had managed to get in and out apparently unseen.

Jarvis later took to Twitter to claim responsibility with a video showing him inside the studio at Wolves' Molineux stadium.

He said: "Yes, it was me that pranked the BBC Match of the Day with the sex Phone :) Best prankster ever!!!!"

In the clip, which has been viewed almost a million times, he walks around ahead of putting the phone in place.

Lineker later applauded the audacity of the prank – saying he found it very funny.

Long-term trickster Jarvis regularly plots high-profile escapades – last year he appeared in court after getting onto the pitch at the Oval where England were playing cricket against India.

After the trial, Jarvis, who had 17 previous convictions which included entering an aircraft while drunk, was unhappy with the decision to prosecute him.

He said: “I think it’s a bad decision. They have pissed me off; no-one has ever been arrested for going onto a cricket field, even when people have run out naked, but they have got a problem with me."
