A YOUNG father who was trying to beat his drug addiction died of an overdose, an inquest heard.
Slovakian Eugen Horvath, of Wrotham Road, Gravesend, was found slumped in the bathroom by his girlfriend and the mother of their young child, Adriana Horvathova, in September.
He had choked and suffocated on his own vomit and there was an empty syringe lying on the floor nearby.
The court heard from Det Sgt David Masters how the 20-year-old had come to the UK in September in 2006 in search of work, and had moved to Gravesend in 2007.
Det Sgt Masters said Eugen worked as a fruit packer and was generally a “happy man” although he was trying to give up an addiction to heroin.
The court heard how Mr Horvath had gone on holiday with his daughter to Slovakia just a few weeks prior to his death to help recover from his addiction.
Coroner Roger Hatch recorded a verdict of misadventure at the inquest.
