Emergency services were scrambled after a car overturned on a main road prompting delays.

Traffic heading coastbound on the A2 at the A2260 Southfleet Road for the Northfleet/ Ebbsfleet turn-off near Gravesend continues to be affected following the incident this morning.

The road was temporarily closed following the incident from 6am until 6.35am.

Motorists are being diverted off to the roundabout and straight back onto the carriageway.

A spokesperson for the police said officers were called at 5.41am to a report of an overturned car on the coastbound carriageway of the A2 near Pepperhill.

“Patrols and Highways officers attended the scene where no injuries were reported and arrangements were made to recover the vehicle,” they added.
