Two people were taken to hospital after they were assaulted during a break-in.
Police attended Charles Street, Greenhithe, at around 1am today to reports a property had been burgled.
During the incident, two people are reported to have been attacked and were taken to hospital for further treatment.
A witness said officers were knocking on the doors of surrounding houses asking if people had heard anything.
Kent Air Ambulance attended. A spokesman said: "Our crew arrived on scene at 1.40am where they treated a patient who was then taken to hospital by aircraft."
Inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.
A neighbour said her young daughter was woken by the noise coming from outside.
"There was this banging about 1am, my daughter had just woken up," she said.
"I just started to hear fading shouts for help and then I heard people running down the road and someone chasing after them. A couple of minutes later the police were here."
Police remained at the scene until 4am before returning the next morning.
