A teenage girl was attacked in the street leading to two arrests after police were called.
Witnesses reported the youngster, aged about 16, was in Vale Road, Northfleet when a man and a woman were reportedly involved in an incident with her.
Officers were called at about 8.30pm on September 18 following the incident near the junction with Waterdales.
Police tracked down a blue Volkswagen Polo which matched a description given to officers said to have been driven by the two suspects.
The girl, who was wearing pink clothing, was reportedly assaulted and verbally abused by the pair.
Officers say they are keen to track down the victim, who had not reported the incident themselves.
After concerns were raised by the witness, police patrols were sent to the area and stopped a vehicle.
A 46-year-old man from Northfleet and a 20-year-old woman from Longfield were detained and have since been released on bail pending further inquiries until October 15.
Police have reviewed CCTV in the area and spoken to multiple witnesses but are appealing for more information and help from the public.
They have asked for additional privately owned CCTV or dash camera footage to help identify the girl.
