Two men will appear before magistrates today after police unearthed a what is believed to be a cannabis factory.
Officers were called to Mitchell Avenue, in Northfleet yesterday morning after reports that a burglary was in progress.
When officers arrived at the scene, they arrested two people, a 21-year-old and a 26-year-old, before carrying out a search for a third suspect, a man, who remains at large.
However, after some investigation it was realised no burglary had taken place but officers did uncover the suspected cannabis factory at a nearby property.
A 44-year-old from Northfleet was subsequently arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and, following inquiries, officers also identified the arrested 21-year-old man as a suspect for allegedly also being involved.
The 26-year-old man was released without charge.
Xhovan Pepaj, 21, of fixed address, has been charged with being concerned in a production of cannabis and Salvator Kola, 44, of Mitchell Avenue, Northfleet, has been charged with producing cannabis.
Both are due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
