An act which features a pantomime dame from Kent has been voted off this year's Britain's Got Talent.

Robert Pearce - aka Gravesham's favourite dame Mother Goose, or simply Mama G - appeared among other drag acts as part of act Dame Nation on the hit ITV show last night.

Mama G is a panto drag act and performer best known for her digital storytelling, tales of inclusivity and energetic live performances.

She has worked with Disney, Pride in London and London Zoo and performs regularly at the Woodville theatre in Gravesend, as well as various other venues across the UK.

During the pandemic she held virtual story time workshops with school kids, had one of her stories turned into a musical and even hosted her very own digital pride.

The local theatre star and her group won the backing of the four judges in an audition and made it through to the live semi-finals.

But last night, the group was buzzed by judge Simon Cowell and were voted off the show by viewers.

During the performance, the group performed a music and dance medley.

The cheeky group even bent over in a line and flashed their underwear to reveal the message, 'We [heart symbol] Simon'.

But this was after Mr Cowell had buzzed them. Speaking after the performance, he said: "I feel really, really bad now.

"At that point, it wasn’t going great and then everything changed at the midway point.

"The second half had a lot more energy, it was a lot more fun so I am half-taking my ‘X’ away."

But the other judges did not agree, with David Walliams saying: "You’ll be surprised to know that I loved it. It was so much fun.

"It was a riot of colour, jokes and wonderful personalities shining through."

In a post on Facebook, Mama G said: "Don't worry, Simon. I still [heart emoji] you!

"Thank you so much to everyone who tuned in and voted for Dame Nation last night!

"It may not have gone the way that we hoped - but I am incredibly proud to have brought panto to such a big stage and such a wide audience!

"I had an absolute blast up there getting to do what I love the most! What an honour!"
