The parents of a woman killed in a road crash say they bear no anger towards the driver guilty of causing her death.

Bill and Margaret Regan, from Gravesend, say they still cannot believe their daughter Deborah Lawson has gone.

The 48-year-old senior nurse, who worked in the radiology department at Darent Valley Hospital, was killed in a car crash in October last year.

The other driver, 30-year-old Daniel Wellard, of Minster-on-Sea, will be sentenced tomorrow (Friday) after pleading guilty to causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.

In an astonishing act of humanity, Deborah's parents say they feel no resentment towards him.

"I felt angry at first," said 77-year-old Mrs Regan, "But nobody sets out to do something like that."

Mrs Lawson, of High View, Vigo, was on her way home from visiting a friend when the accident happened on a notorious stretch of the A26 near Maidstone which has claimed four other lives since 2005.

Mr Regan said: "I still can't believe she's gone, we still expect her to walk through the door."

His wife added: "People say time heals, but it doesn't seem to do that for us."
