FIRE crews were scrambled to reports of people trapped inside a burning building in Gravesend.

Two pumps from Thames-side and one from Dartford were called at 11.15am yesterday by someone at Pilots Place.

However, when they arrived everyone had been successfully evacuated and there was no sign of a fire.

A spokeswoman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "It turned out to be a good intention call and there wasn't actually a fire."
