A pervert has been jailed for six years for raping a young woman as she slept after a drunken night out.
The teenage victim told a court how she woke up to find Asso Salhi having sex with her.
Salhi, of Pelham Road, Gravesend, denied rape but was convicted by a jury.
The woman said she was drunk “but aware” after going to nightclubs in the town in March last year.
She went to a friend’s house in the early hours, took off her boots and went to sleep on top of a duvet with 25-year-old Salhi next to her. There were others in the house.
“I would not dream of thinking he wanted to have sex with me,” she said as she gave evidence on a TV link to the court. “I was drunk. I just wanted to go to sleep. I crashed out.”
The teenager said she had no idea how she ended up under the duvet.
Questioned by Charlotte Newell, defending, she denied instigating sex with Salhi and consenting to intercourse.
“Never,” she said. “I have never had sex with anyone other than I have been in a relationship with. I would never have sex with somebody I hardly knew.”
“I didn’t call out while I was being raped because I was scared. He didn’t try to stop me leaving. He stayed in bed and didn’t say anything. I ran out as fast as I could" - rape victim
She tried to move away, she said, when she realised Salhi was raping her.
“I wouldn’t say he was forceful,” she continued. “He was not aggressive. I didn’t say anything. There were no words exchanged.
“As soon as I got out of bed I was looking around for my phone. I was saying to the others to wake up. I was scared. I was shocked.
“I didn’t call out while I was being raped because I was scared. He didn’t try to stop me leaving. He stayed in bed and didn’t say anything. I ran out as fast as I could.”
She denied she accused Salhi of rape because she consented to sex and was embarrassed.
Recorder Anesta Weekes QC told Salhi, who did not go into the witness box to give evidence, that his name would appear on the sex offenders’ register.
