Two new adventure play area areas have been built at Trosley and Shorne Woods Country Parks.

The rangers at Trosley Country Park, near Meopham, have worked closely with Vigo School Council to choose the type of equipment they wanted and even dream up a name, Forest Fun, which will go on a wooden plaque over the entrance to the new play area.

At Shorne Woods Country Park, a new toddler play area has been installed.

Kent County Council has invested £50,000 on the play areas.

Teaching assistant at Vigo Viv Philcox said: “We have the park on our doorstep but weren’t making enough use of it. As a school we were asked to get involved by helping the park rangers select new play equipment and to help choose a name for the adventure area.

“The number of children now using the park proves what a worthwhile project this has been.”

KCC parks boss Amanda Dunk said: “With children these days spending more and more of their time on computers, smartphones and other digital devices, our drive is to get children out into the open air to engage with the natural world, and challenge themselves mentally as well as physically.”
