A body has been found in the River Thames.
Police officers, paramedics, the Coastguard and RNLI crews were called to Gravesend Town Pier and Pontoon at around 12.40pm this afternoon (August 16).
A spokesman for the force said they were called to reports of a body in the water near Royal Pier Road.
It has since been confirmed the body of a man in his 40s, from London, was recovered. His next of kin has been made aware.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
The emergency services remained at the scene throughout the afternoon and a forensics tent was put up.
A witness said they saw a police boat and RNLI lifeboat in the middle of the water at around 2.15pm.
Pictures from the scene showed multiple officers congregated on the pier and three ambulance vehicles and a fire engine was parked near St Andrew’s Gardens.
A police car was also spotted outside The Three Daws pub.
