A
family have spoken of their 'deep sadness and shock' after a
pregnant woman was injured in a car explosion.

Victoria Fabian's loved ones were speaking as the 32-year-old
was treated in hospital for leg injuries after the Friday
afternoon incident.

An official statement issued today read: "The family is deeply
saddened and shocked by Friday's incident and the sequence of
events as they unfold.

"At the moment all our energy and attention is focussed on
supporting Vicky and her children.

Vicky is in the best place and has started her long road to
recovery."

The comments come as police are given a further extension
to question a man in connection with the car explosion in
Vigo on Friday afternoon.

The 32-year-old can remain in custody until later tonight,
after he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Mrs Fabian, who suffered leg injuries in the incident, will
undergo further operations at a London hospital.

Her injuries are not life-threatening, and doctors believe all
is well with her unborn child.

An eight-year-old boy was taken to the Darent Valley Hospital in
Dartford after the explosion as a precaution and was kept in for
observation. He was released yesterday.

Highview in Vigo - the scene of the explosion in the car just
after 1pm on Friday - is now fully open after being cordoned off
for forensic investigation with the help of army specialists.
