Police were called at 1.19pm this afternoon after reports of a man walking around Meopham with a knife.

Officers searched the area and called in the police helicopter to help patrols conduct a search for him.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was later located in Camer Park at about 3pm by a sniffer dog, hiding up a tree.

It is understood he had mental health issues.

He was taken by ambulance to Darent Valley Hospital.
