In the letter, which was distributed last Friday, headteacher Chris Norwood assured parents the police have been informed and are increasing patrols of the area.

There will be an increased staff presence outside the gates and along Hall Road at the end of the school day.

The letter states: “We have received reports of a member of the public behaving suspiciously around our students as they leave school along Hall Road.”

It adds: “I want to reassure you that we do not feel there is active risk to our students.

“However, I wanted to make you aware that we are addressing this concern as raised by some students.”

Police confirmed it was called on November 9 to a report of a man acting suspiciously in Hall Road, Northfleet.

A spokesman for the force said: “The incident was alleged to have happened between 8.35am and 8.55am.

“Officers attended the area and are continuing enquiries to identify the suspect.”
