An investigation has been launched into the actions of the police officers who were involved in a fatal M25 crash.

Motorcyclist Andrina Everett died after being involved in an accident with a car that was being chased by the force over the Dartford Crossing.

Officers were pursuing a Range Rover when the crash happened at around 11.40pm on Sunday (April 14).

Paramedics attended along with officers from Essex Police to help an injured motorcyclist, however, the rider, who has now been named as Andrina Everett, from Kent, died at the scene.

Her fiancée William Critchell has described her as “the most loving person” on a fundraising page.

He said: “Andrina Everett was the second of four siblings, a loving daughter, sister, fiancée and a wonderful friend to so many people.

“She loved riding her motorbike everywhere and couldn’t go one night without riding around enjoying the freedom she had.

“Our beautiful girl was taken too soon at 19 years old and we are all devastated by her loss.

“She was the most loving person to all her family and friends and would do anything she could to put a smile on their faces.”

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) was notified by Kent Police shortly after the incident at junction 30 of the M25 and launched an investigation.

Investigators are now gathering and reviewing evidence, including dashcam and body-worn footage, to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.

So far, they know, at around 11.38pm, two policemen in a marked vehicle tried to stop the driver of a grey Range Rover after it was seen speeding.

The officers turned on the car’s sirens but the driver did not stop so they chased the driver on the anti-clockwise carriageway, through the Dartford tunnel.

At around 11.41pm, the driver of the Range Rover was involved in a crash with a motorcyclist.

IOPC regional director Mel Palmer said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with all of those affected, including the family and friends of Andrina Everett.

“As the car involved in the fatal collision was being pursued by officers, it is important that an independent investigation is carried out into the circumstances of the pursuit and the actions and decision-making of the officers involved.

“We will ensure that our enquiries do not impede Essex Police’s criminal investigation into the collision, and we will keep those involved regularly updated.”

The driver and passenger of the car, both aged 18, from Essex, were arrested by Essex Police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving at the scene.

They have been released on bail until July 8.

Part of the roundabout was closed for around 10 hours before it reopened at around 10.30am on Monday (April 15).
