Police release CCTV images following suspected handbag theft in Thamesgate Shopping Centre, Gravesend

CCTV images of a man and woman have been released following an alleged theft of a handbag from a pensioner in Gravesend.

The victim, in her 70s, was shopping in the Thamesgate Shopping Centre on Saturday, June 27, when her bag was stolen just before 3pm.

It is believed a man, aged 50 to 60 with a foreign accent, distracted the woman by talking to her as her bag was pinched.

Police would like to speak to both the man and a woman pictured in the CCTV from the store.

Investigating officer PC Reggie Dix said: "It appears that this couple have targeted the victim, distracting her before stealing her belongings.
