A teenager has been taken to hospital after a suspected stabbing near a Tesco supermarket in a town centre.
Police were called to New Road, Gravesend, following reports of a disturbance.
Officers attended the scene near the Tesco supermarket at the junction with Garrick Street around 11pm.
A 17-year-old boy was treated for an injury consistent with a stab wound. He was later taken to hospital but has since been discharged.
Police tracked a 37-year-old man from Medway who was arrested at Gillingham railway station a short time later in connection with the incident. Officers also seized a multi-tool containing a knife.
The suspect, who is believed to be known to the victim, was also taken to hospital for treatment to minor facial injuries.
He was later taken into custody as inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue. He has since been bailed to return to a police station on September 6.
A police cordon has been put in place across a section of New Road restricting access to the High Street.
Sniffer dog teams were also visible in the town in the early hours as forensics teams moved in to carry out an investigation.
