THE two-year-old son of a Kent police officer has drowned in a hotel swimming pool on the Spanish island of Menorca.

The toddler, Joshua Blanchard, from Gravesend, was on holiday with his parents when the tragedy happened.

It is understood Joshua was discovered in the pool by a cleaner at the Aguamarina Hotel, in Arenal D'en Castell, on Saturday morning.

The family said they are completely devastated by the loss of their delightful and much loved son.

The dead boy's father is a police officer based in north Kent.

Local police in Menorca are treating Joshua's death as a tragic accident and it is understood the family has been moved to alternative accommodation on the island.
