A poppy appeal group transformed a shopping centre car park into a First and Second World War reinactment to launch their fundraising.

Tommy's, vintage vehicles and the Royal British Legion motor-cyclists were all standing to attention on the first day of Gravesham's Poppy Appeal.

The event began at 10am a Sainsbury's Car Park in Springhead Road, Northfleet and the fundraisers will be there everyday until Remembrance Sunday.

Poppy appeal organiser David Taylor, 46 of Cold Harbour Road said:" We've had lots of people ask about the appeal and what's been going on

"Our aim is to beat our total last year, Gravesham poppy appeal last year raised 82, 000 hopes to beat that this year,

"We've been the highest in Kent for three years in a row so we've got quite a reputation to uphold."

Poppy stalls will also be set up at Ebbsfleet International Train Station, St George's Shopping Centre, Bath Street, Gravesend, ASDA Gravesend superstore, Thames Way, Gravesend, Morrisons, Coldharbour Road, Gravesend and Aldi, London Road Rosherville, Gravesend for the next two weeks.
