Around 200 performers have already taken to the stage at a two-week festival in Northfleet, but there are still 100 acts yet to play.

The Ridiculously Red Roar Festival, at the Red Lion in Crete Hall Road, continues until Sunday and festival manager, Adam Fillary, has said his next venture will be even bigger.

The Unity Music Association, a not-for-profit organisation which aims to improve the relationship between the music industry and local artists, is hosting the festival, the third at the Northfleet pub.

The first, in 2009, featured 100 bands over four days, the second, was in 2012, called the Really Red festival, had 200 bands perform over 10 days, so Mr Fillary wanted to organise an event which was even bigger, and so the Ridiculously Red Festival was born.

Mr Fillary said: “I was a promoter up until 2012 and after a few years away, and the death of my friend in May last year, I wanted to get people back together and about 30 acts on the line-up came back, either from hiatus, or got back together to perform at the festival.
“The landlord Terry Lee has been very supportive of us, and of live music.

“I told the team of volunteers who run the festival that I wanted to do something even bigger next year, I’m hoping to run the Kentertain festival for 16 days, over three weekends, which will feature 1,000 acts.

“I want to encourage schools to come and learn about live broadcasting and to help artists on the local music scene.”
