Comic Relief has a red nose, Breast Cancer Awareness has a pink ribbon, now Stacey Mowle has the colour purple.
Campaigners behind an appeal to raise vital cash so the youngster can undergo life-saving cancer treatment are urging Gravesham to don the vibrant shade in support of the seven-year-old.
Stacey, of Trafalgar Road, Gravesend, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in May 2010 and, despite almost two years of intense treatment, relapsed just days before Christmas last year.
She now needs specialist treatment which is neither available in the UK nor funded by the NHS and may cost up to £500,000.
Her parents, Warren and Samantha, joined forces with charity Families Against Neuroblastoma to launch the Stacey Mowle Appeal, and dozens of fundraising events have been organised by well-wishers.
More than 1,200 donations have been made through their justgiving.com page, helping to raise more than £24,000.
Now generous volunteers, who have dubbed themselves Mowlers, are urging people to ‘Go Purple’ in honour of Stacey’s favourite Disney Princess, Rapunzel, on Friday, April 26.
Asda Gravesend’s community life champion Jacquii Alexander-Smith wants as many businesses, groups and schools to join in.
"So far, we have had a fantastic response to all of the events arranged to support Stacey and her family but we still have a long way to go.
"This is where we need the involvement of the community to help raise the money and support they so desperately need.
"Where possible, we are asking people to make a donation of £1 to wear their purple item in their work place or school but even if you are just out and about that day, please wear the colours with pride and show your support for The Stacey Mowle Appeal, and help bring the entire community together."
