Once again Gravesend claims the record for the hottest place in the UK this week.

The mercury reached 32.8C yesterday, making the riverside town hotter than New Delhi, Honolulu and Los Angeles.

While in Gravesend people immediately flocked to the river, there was misery for commuters near Dartford who were stuck on a broken-down train and forced open the doors and began walking down the track.

The Met Police has launched an investigation after two dogs died in a locked police car. It happened at a police dog training centre in Keston.
