Residents at Christian Fields were joined by Gravesham MP Adam Holloway to celebrate the completion of the housing estate.
It was back in 2002 that the area was marked down for regeneration by Gravesham council and housing company Moat and developer Countryside Properties began work.
The original 208 houses were demolished in a phased project, and Countryside Properties built 413 brand new homes; 200 private and 213 affordable.
Of these, 178 were built as new homes for original residents, with the rest available for private sale and shared ownership.
Mr Holloway said: “When Christian Fields was built in the 1950s, it was quite the place to live in the borough. By the time I became MP in 2005, many residents were scared to live in the neighbourhood.
“I came to the estate regularly to see friends and constituents who contacted me, many of whom had experienced severe cases of anti-social behaviour.
"A small number of people were making life miserable for the good people that lived there.
“Today we see what teamwork can achieve. Countryside, Moat, Gravesham council and, most importantly, the community have worked together to build an environment that people are proud to be part of.”
Last month, the Community Hub in Warrior Avenue was opened, providing a meeting place for young and old alike.
