A bright blue light lit up the sky as Storm Isha caused chaos overnight.
Residents across Gravesend and Meopham were shocked to see the bright flash as it was suspected a power line had gone down just before 9.30pm.
Charley May, who filmed the spectacle above her house in Dobson Road, said: “The whole sky in Gravesend turned a bright blue colour.
“It was scary. At first I thought it was a gas explosion in the distance and then when I didn’t hear any noise I realised it was probably a power line.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. I thought it was lightning, but the whole sky was a greeny blue so I knew it wasn’t normal. It was like something off a movie when power lines go down.
The bright light was seen for miles in Gravesend, Northfleet and Meopham, with some residents even reporting the sky “turning purple” and “lights going mad”.
A spokeswoman for UK Power Network said: “There was a brief interruption to supplies in the Isle of Grain area at 9.23pm yesterday (21 Jan), after a fault on the overhead network.
“We are checking the network and working to restore power to one customer.
“We cannot confirm if this is linked to the flash that was seen.”
