Residents woke up to brown water this morning after a pipe burst.

Households in the Higham area had discoloured water.

Southern Water says the problem was caused by a burst pipe in Shorne.

Some homes were without water last night, but supplies are thought to have returned this morning.

The discolouration was caused by iron oxide, which was flushed through the pipes with the burst.
