A road was shut for several hours following a fire in a third floor Gravesend flat.

About 20 firefighters in four vehicles were called to a property in The Grove after neighbours spotted smoke billowing from the top floor.

Police closed the road at about 12.30pm on Wednesday while crews used a height vehicle to tackle the flames, which are thought to have started in the roof space.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by about 1.50pm, but were still there until about 3pm making sure the building was safe.

No-one was injured.
