Emergency crews were called to tackle a fire at a launderette.
The blaze broke out in the three-storey building in Milton Road at around 7am.
Police enforced road closures on the one way system, including Milton Road from the junction with Wellington Street, Edwin Street and Harmer Street, causing delays for rush hour drivers.
Three fire engines were called to the scene.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the ground floor fire using a hose reel jet, a cold-cut firefighting system and water from a hydrant.
There were no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Crews left the scene at around 8.40am.
