A HOME-MADE rocket launcher, probably made for an exhibition or a display, has been handed in as part of the national firearms amnesty being run until April 30.
The launcher is made from a variety of household items including a gate latch and a bike seat as shoulder rest.
Police spokesman Martin Pearce said: "It did cause a bit of a stir because it is so unusual. Someone has put quite a bit of time and effort into making this, probably for some sort of display.
"It is perfectly harmless and has provided a light-hearted moment but it shouldn't take away from the serious message behind the campaign."
The amnesty has seen 693 weapons and 2,839 rounds of ammunition handed to North Kent Police in the first two weeks of the campaign.
