Paralympic rower Naomi Riches hopes to have set a new world record in rowing the length of the Thames to Gravesend in just under 48 hours.

Naomi, who won a gold medal at London’s 2012 Paralympics, arrived at Gravesend Royal Pier this afternoon, having set off from Lechdale in Gloucestershire on Saturday.

Her time of 47 hours 59 minutes 44 seconds is now set to be verified by Guinness World Records, and if confirmed. Naomi will hold the world record as the fastest woman to row the Thames in a single scull.

She took on the attempt to raise money and awareness for IN-vision – a charity dedicated to researching Infantile Nystagmus, which she has suffered from for her entire life.

The effort has so far raised just over £25,000.
