Fly-tipped cardboard boxes and black sacks stretching along “five car lengths” have blocked a country road.
Three Gates Road in Longfield has been left completely impassable after mountains of rubbish, including planks of wood, were dumped on the road between noon and 1pm today.
The road stretches between Scratchers Lane and Speedgate Hill and the blockage has left residents facing a diversion around the lanes of more than one and half miles, according to one resident.
Steve Hunt, who lives nearby, said: “There is no way past it. There are homes between the two roads.
“It is completely impassable.”
Dave Sumner, who lives in nearby Hartley, raised concerns about how an emergency vehicle would get past.
“It worries me that a human would do such a disgusting thing,” he said.
“If an ambulance needs to use that road for an emergency how are they going to get through or even turn around?”
A spokesman for Sevenoaks council said; “Our Environmental Enforcement Team visited the site today to collect evidence that would help with our investigations and the possibility of bringing a prosecution.
“Kent County Council are aware of the fly-tip and will be removing the waste shortly.
“If any resident has information about this, or any other fly-tipping incident, they can contact us in confidence on ee@sevenoaks.gov.uk.
“Residents and businesses can help reduce the incidents of fly-tipping by making sure they only use a registered waste carrier to dispose of their waste.”
