The 76-year-old is described as being 5ft with grey, shoulder-length hair.

A search party organised by a family friend is taking place at 5.30pm today (April 10), which will be starting at the Clarendon Royal Hotel in Gravesend.

It will be heading towards the promenade, along the river towards the Ship & Lobster pub and Shornemead Lighthouse.

People are being asked to bring torches and to wrap up warm.

Yesterday, her daughter told KentOnline of how she had heard a bang on Monday evening but put it down to her parents still being awake at the time.

The family were later told CCTV showed Carolyn in Perry Street at around 11.45pm the same night, and she was seen “charging” through the road near Papa Johns.

She was wearing a long grey skirt, a long-sleeved black cardigan, ballet-type shoes and had her hair in a low ponytail.

Police also released a CCTV image yesterday that placed her in the Darnley Road area of Gravesend at around 1am on Tuesday.

There was a reported sighting of her at the Clarendon Royal Hotel around 20 minutes after that.

As well as this, there was a reported sighting of her at the Esso garage in Perry Street, near her home, at around 4.45pm on Tuesday.

Her daughter issued an emotional plea for her help to trace her mum, who is without her medication and is described as being “very vulnerable” with “extreme mental health issues”.

She added: “She can present as normal to some people sometimes and make complete sense but not other times.

“She’s been deteriorating both mentally and physically. We’re all worried sick.”

Appealing to her mum directly, she added: “There are a lot of people looking for you and concerned about your welfare.

“We understand you’re in pain, hurting and grieving. It’s not your fault – you don’t need to suffer alone.”

She reportedly also has links to Rochester.

The Find Carol Groom - Missing Person Facebook page is coordinating searches in Gravesend and Medway.

A post from one of the organisers says there has been a sighting in Star Hill, Rochester, however this has not been confirmed.

Police are urging anyone with information on her whereabouts to call 999, quoting reference 8-0299.
