A serious crash involving a car and a bicycle closed Northfleet's High Street this morning.

Police say it happened just before midnight, and they are appealing for witnesses, especially those with dashcam footage.

The road was reopened shortly before 9am after being shut for more than eight hours, affecting the morning rush hour.

The road is closed in both directions between The Hill and Hive Lane.

Pictures show an ambulance at the scene in the early hours of this morning.

Police have been contacted for more information.
