There's just a month to go before Ebbsfleet United kick-off their National League campaign following last season's memorable promotion, but while manager Daryl McMahon has been working hard to bolster his squad, the renovation of the club's Stonebridge Road home has hit a roadblock.
Work had been continuing this summer but now the club have announced that the company building the stand has ceased trading.
A statement on the club's website reads: "The club regrets to announce that it has been formally advised that the main contractor building the club’s new main stand – Trak Special Projects Ltd (TSP) – has ceased trading.
"A further announcement will be issued in due course.
"Supporters can be assured that we are working with our advisors to minimise the impact of this announcement in completing the last elements of the main stand fit-out."
The setback comes just a few months after Gravesham council granted planning permission for the club to get to work on the next piece of the puzzle, the Plough End.
It includes a stand for 1,750 supporters and an integrated hotel featuring 55 rooms and 24 car parking spaces.
There will also be a restaurant and bar, which could be used on match days.
Outline planning permission for the rest of the stadium has already been granted and the next phase after the Plough End works will be at the Swanscombe End, with details to be confirmed at a later stage.
