Six teenage men have been arrested after an horrific stabbing in front of a woman and her young children.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the attack on a man in Gravesend on Tuesday.

A woman this week told how she watched in horror as a man was stabbed in front of her, her baby and her terrified toddler on Tuesday.

She said the man was knifed before falling onto the buggy holding her year-old baby as she waited for a bus in Milton Road, Gravesend, with two of her children.

The young mother said both she and her family were traumatised by the ordeal.

She said: “I’m feeling very distressed over it all and the look on my three-year-old’s face is something I will never unsee."

Following the attack, at around 11.50am on Tuesday, two men who are believed to have assaulted the man were seen running off in the direction of Augustine Road.

They fled in a car, believed to be a Volkswagen Polo.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to knife wounds and is in a stable condition.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Andy Featherstone, said: "The two main offenders are described as one black man and one white man.

"The white man was wearing a cream tracksuit, a green parka jacket with a fur hood, and black and white trainers.

"The black male was wearing a navy blue-coloured body warmer, a black beanie hat, blue jeans and black trainers."

Six teenage males - five aged 17 and another aged 18 - from Gravesend have been arrested in connection with the incident and are in police custody.

DI Featherstone added: "While we have made six arrests so far in connection with this incident, enquiries are very much ongoing and we are still looking for information which may yet lead to further arrests."
