ABOUT 60 firefighters tackled a large blaze at a warehouse in Gravesend last night.

The fire started at around 11pm.

Eight fire engines and a special appliance tackled the blaze at Wavecrest in Mark Lane, Denton Wharf, Gravesend.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it believes the warehouse has been completely destroyed by the fire but it was able to prevent the fire spreading to other buildings.

No-one was in the warehouse at the time and no other properties had to be evacuated.

Crews from Thames-side, Dartford, Strood, Swanscombe, Rainham and Tonbridge all tackled the blaze.

Some remain at the scene this morning, which has now been cordoned off by police.
