A rooftop view is on the cards for one homebuyer with plans to build a penthouse above a new coffee shop in Gravesend.
The former Burtons building in New Road is being refitted as a Costa Coffee, but plans for the roof have been submitted for a proposed two-bed penthouse.
Developers Goldex Investments Ltd, which trades as Costa Coffee, says the home, complete with town and river views, will have a roof terrace large enough for outside dining and planting.
On entering, a hallway will lead you towards an open-plan living room with doors off to a double bedroom and a family bathroom. At the end of the hallway is the en-suite master bedroom.
The plans state: “The penthouse is modern and unique in appearance. It will sit on top of the existing building but will be mostly unnoticeable from street level.
“The facade will be a mixture of full-height glazing and timber cladding.”
Dorothy Perkins and Burtons, which shared a store on the corner of New Road and the High Street in Gravesend, closed on January 12.
A decision is expected in February, while Costa is expected to open early next year.
